AOM:Retold was released in 2024 - one of the many RTS games I played as a kid. It wasn't long before I found myself making maps with a much better understanding of the games mechanics.
I put a lot of effort into 6 Point Island and due to the limitations of this editor, I had to release mulitple different versions of the same map with different ally arrangements. (I'm pretty sure WC2 even allowed you to determine that in the game lobby). Seems like a common standard with Age of Empires and Age of Mythology, to release mutliple versions of the same map.
This map is specifically targeted at team based PvP modes (3v3 and 2v2v2) and is also a well balanced FFA map.
Mods are only accessible through the game, so there is no external download.
My second map for Age of Mythology, named Crescent due to its shape. This map is specifically targeted at entry level 1v1 PvP gameplay.
The sea is not accessible - which means teams are forced to face along 1 main route, while maintaining a perfectly safe base from the rear. A perfect introduction to PvP for beginners as the layout allows players to focus on their speeds and economy with little-to-no map strategy.
The one thing I tried specifically to do with this maps design artistically was to allow for an external map vista from the isometric point of view.
Mods are only accessible through the game, so there is no external download.
