Infested Plains
The Riftbreaker is a solo or co-op base-building, survival game with Action-RPG elements for up to 4 players. Hack & slash countless hordes of enemies. The intention is to build up your base, craft powerful weapons and research new inventions to survive. While exploring the map for resources and upgrades between waves.
Level design for The Riftbreaker is a little less modular than most level editors, the areas are constructed based on tiles and procedurally generated in different arrangements each time. Prop and material layers are also painted in the form of masks, which randomly change out between selected sets when the tile is added to the level.
I found this form of level design quite similar to what I do working on Path of Exile 2, which was a breeze to pick up and understand how the shapes tilize together. Below is a demonstration on a single room and its masks, with some examples on prop groups that can generate. I have only shown these tiles with daylight, however the prop selection has taken into consideration the night time cycle of the game and I have included many bioluminescent plants to provide light for the player. An example of that can be seen in the end of the video at the bottom of this page.

Here are some more examples of the tiles I had made for this level. Tiles don't all have to be square, some of mine were 1x2 in scale or 2x2. The maximum dimensions for world generation is 4x4 tiles, which is why I only needed to include 2 tiles at 2x2 size, the remaining were 1x1 or 1x2.

Here I run through the level showing how it generated, this survival mission objective is to last for 1hour and 30minutes, which is typical for survival missions, however in this video I am only running through the level.
